At Machining Concepts, we are always looking for ways to improve the quality, efficiency, and accuracy of our machining processes. Recently, we implemented a new technology called the Perfect Zero CNC Alignment Camera, and we’ve been blown away by the results.
This innovative spindle camera can be used on any one of our CNC Lathes, and it allows us to accurately center the tools used in the machining process. This has brought a number of benefits for our customers, including:
-
The lifespan of this 5 thousandths drill was extended by the use of the spindle camera to effortlessly produce 600 parts without needing replacement.
Improved quality: By minimizing the risk of errors, we’ve been able to produce higher-quality products for our customers. For example, we recently used the Perfect Zero camera to manufacture precision parts for an aerospace company. The number of test pieces used to produce a first piece was reduced from 6 to 1, resulting in a significant improvement in quality. Quality was also maintained longer throughout the machining process reducing the number of errors. Being on true center also puts less stress on tools reducing wear and tear and therefore reducing the risk of error even further,
- Increased efficiency: The tool centering software also reduces the time and effort needed to set up the machine, which has led to increased efficiency and productivity for our customers. For example, we recently used the Perfect Zero camera to manufacture precision parts for an aerospace company. The improved setup times allowed us to complete the job faster than expected. Once the camera is set up in the collet, each tool can be centered. A process taking about 5 minutes per tool compared to 30-45 minutes prior. After aligning 6

tools, it takes the same amount of time to set up all 6 tools as 1 tool prior to implementing the camera.
- Greater accuracy: Precise tool centering also enhances the accuracy of the machining process, resulting in more consistent and reliable results. We recently used the Perfect Zero camera to manufacture parts for an aerospace company. The accurate tool centering allowed us to produce parts with extremely tight tolerances as tight as 1 thousandth using drill bits as small as 5 thousandths, resulting in a flawless end product.
Overall, the Perfect Zero CNC Alignment Camera has been a game-changer for our operations. We are confident that it will continue to benefit our customers by improving quality, efficiency, and accuracy in the machining process.
